The 5-night program includes a stay in a 4* Wine Hotel, and visits with wine tasting in 7 emblematic wineries in these regions, having in 3 meals with wine pairing.
The accommodation will be at the Wine Hotel da Quinta da Lapa 4*, *, located in the municipality of Azambuja, where you can experience a real rural getaway, always accompanied by the best wines. In Quinta da Lapa the environment refers to the user-friendliness or the pleasure of sharing a wine, of living the moment without hours, in a distant place and at the same time, two steps from the great city of Lisbon. And speaking of wine, a true experience of wine tourism would not be complete without its historical component and also in this context Quinta da Lapa has much to offer, because it has more than 300 years of tradition of producing high quality wines. Here are gathered the ingredients so you can enjoy a memorable experience of wine tourism, in a unique place, a safe haven in the backwater of the Ribatejo hills.
During the program you will have access to several wine tourism activities in Wine Estates near your accommodation.
On the first day you will visit Quinta da Lapa, on a guided tour in the vineyard and winery, with tasting of wines and regional products (bread, cheeses, sausages and olives). Surrounded by vineyards, lagoons, the tank house fed by a natural spring, or even the verdant hills around, natural features that join the rich history of Quinta da Lapa, which has more than 300 years of tradition of producing high quality wines. At the end of the day you will have a regional dinner, paired with Quinta da Lapa wines.
On the 2nd day of the program you will have booked a visit to Manzwine, a project based on the historical and wine recovery of the village of Cheleiros, as well as the recovery of the Jampal grape variety, a Portuguese grape, almost extinct, from which they make the only wine in the world 100% Jampal. You will be welcomed at the Old Winepress/ wine shop, starting the visit with a historical setting. The following is the visit to the museum, where there is an explanation about the Terroir and its influence on the characteristics of the wine. The visit continues in the cellar and the Old School / Barrels Room. The visit ends with the guided and commented tasting of 6 Premium wines, accompanied by Mafra Bread and 2 extra virgin olive oils.
The lunch will be at Quinta do Gradil, considered one of the oldest, if not the oldest Estate in the municipality of Cadaval, in Lisbon, has a strong wine tradition that lasts for centuries. The property consists of a noble chapel ornamented by an artistically decorated turret, a housing estate, a winery and an agricultural area of 200 hectares occupied with wine and fruit productions. Here, you will taste the wine menu, which consists of a gastronomic selection prepared by the Chef in 3 moments and paired with 3 Quinta do Gradil wines.
On the 3rd day of the program, the morning will be spent at Quinta da Chocapalha where agriculture is seen as an activity of great nobility and that values all who embrace this project. The visit will begin with a short walk through the vineyards, where the story of the Tavares da Silva family will be told and where the viticulture process will be explained. Passing through the cellar and the barrel room, where the winemaking process will be explained. Finally, a tasting of 4 wines, accompanied by cheeses, sausages and rusks, and a typical lunch, a great opportunity to the taste of the local wines.
After lunch, you will visit Quinta do Monte d'Oiro, known, since the 19th century, as a privileged terroir, where clay-limestone soils, mediterranean microclimate with Atlantic influence and wind blowing permanently give the wines a great freshness, elegance and balance. The visit will begin in the vineyard, then through the winery and will end in the tasting room, where the wine tasting will take place, overlooking the cellar of the barrels where the red wines of the property are aged. The tasting of 3 wines, will be accompanied by cheeses and regional cured meats.
On the 4th day of the program you can visit Casa Santos Lima, based in Alenquer. You will know the property on a guided tour in the winery, the barrels room and vineyards, and see how the day-to-day life of Casa Santos Lima works through in a video. You will end the visit with a tasting of 3 premium wines accompanied by appetizers.
On the 5th and last day of activities you will have time to visit Quinta do Sanguinhal, founded in 1926 by Abel Pereira da Fonseca. It is dedicated to the exploration of 3 Farms in the Demarcated Region of Óbidos. You will know the Farm on a guided tour, as well as the gardens and vineyards. You will visit the former distillery fully recovered, the old mill with stick and spindle presses, dating from 1871 and the aging basement with 36 barrels. The visit will end with a commented tasting of 6 wines, accompanied by toasts, regional cheese and mini cream pastries.
The program will end on the 6th day, after breakfast and check-out of the hotel.
