In this luxury, wine and food getaway, designed by Portugal by Wine, we invite you to relax and enjoy in the Alentejo & Douro Wine Regions.
The 10-night program includes a stay in 5* hotels, and visits with wine tasting in 10 emblematic Wine Estates, having 4 meals paired with wines in wineries and 2 more in restaurants.
The program begins in Alentejo and the stay will be in the hotel M'ar de Ar Aqueduto 5*, located in the historic center and in the heart of the area classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, arising an adaptation of the former Palace of Sepúlveda, from which preserves a magnificent chapel, vaulted ceilings and three Manueline windows on the main façade. Built according to the most modern concepts of contemporary architecture and design, this boutique hotel offers a SPA of 220 m2, 62 rooms, and integrates the Degust'AR Restaurant, where you can discover the Mediterranean cuisine with the signature of Chef António Nobre.
During the program you will have access to various wine tourism activities in Wine Estates in the regions of Alentejo and Douro.
The first day of the program will be spent at the hotel, where you can rest and take care of yourself! You will have a wellness treatment in the spa of the hotel booked and, at the end of the day, you will have a dinner for 2, in the restaurant Divinus, integrated in a nearby hotel also in Évora, in the Convento do Espinheiro, with the best Alentejo products.
On the 2nd day, you will have a lunch reserved at the restaurant 5 Amêndoas, integrated in the Hotel Vitória Stone, where you will enjoy a typical Alentejo lunch, and you can try the best traditional cuisine and taste the Alentejo wines, in a menu suggested by our Chef.
In the afternoon you will visit Cartuxa Winery - Quinta de Valbom. Located in Quinta de Valbom, 2 km from the historic center of Évora and 200 metres from the Carthusian Monastery that inspired its name, Cartuxa Wine Tourism is housed in the former Jesuit rest home (Companhia de Jesus), who taught at the University of Évora in the 16th and 17th centuries. You will discover the history and unique surroundings of Quinta de Valbom through a guided tour of the building where the Cartuxa Winery was founded. The activity will culminate with the tasting 3 wines selected by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, accompanied by typical Alentejo snacks, such as sausages, cheeses and jams from the region.
The 3rd day of the program will be to go down to the Beja region (about 100Km) and visit two of the most emblematic Wine Estates in the region.
Lunch will be at Herdade da Malhadinha Nova, located in Albernôa located in Albernôa, in the heart of the Lower Alentejo. A space of freedom that is lost on the horizon without limits, where high quality wines and native animals are bred in total harmony with nature. In the cellar building, the restaurant offers an author's kitchen, inspired by typical Alentejo dishes, recreated by a Michelin-starred Chef, Joachim Koerper. You will taste the menu of 4 moments paired with the best Malhadinha Wines.
In the afternoon you will visit the Herdade dos Grous, a property of 730 hectares that constitutes a quiet space to relax and taste nature. It is a estate of wine and agrotourism exploration, with unique characteristics in the heart of the Alentejo, only 17 kilometers away from Beja. You will know the estate on a guided tour of the winery, followed by a tasting of 4 Herdade dos Grous wines accompanied by regional Alentejo tapas.
The 4th day of the program will be once more in the region of Évora. During the morning you will visit the avant-garde and internationally known due to its architecture, Herdade do Freixo, located in the northeast Alentejo, whose main activity is wine production with varieties of high adaptive potential to soil and climate. You will know the winery, owner of a unique architecture, built in depth in a total of 3 floors below the vineyard, and at the end of the visit will taste 2 premium wines, in a tasting accompanied by a board of cheeses and sausages.
On the 5th day you will visit João Portugal Ramos, located in Estremoz, Évora, in the heart of Alentejo, is a reference in Portuguese wines. Its winery, in Vila Santa, joins the modern in all the winemaking technology implemented in the wine production processes, with the best Portuguese wine tradition. You will visit the winery and cellars, where you will have the opportunity to know the whole history of this producer, its properties and its wines. After the visit, you will enjoy a traditional Alentejo lunch, accompanied with the João Portugal Ramos wines. After lunch, you will participate in the activity "Being a Winemaker for a Day", where you will create your own batch of wine, and take with you a bottle of wine with a personalized label.
The 6th day will be booked to make the trip between Alentejo and Douro. Upon arrival at Alto Douro Vinhateiro, check-in can be done at the Douro Royal Valley Hotel & Spa 5*, integrated in a relaxing and welcoming environment, surrounded by the ancient vineyards of the Douro region, classified as World Heritage Sites. Modern and elegant, allows each guest a close relationship with nature, mirrored in the serene waters of the Douro River You will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the Palato D'Ouro Restaurant and Ruby bar and you can enjoy the typical local cuisine. Far from the big urban centers, the Royal Spa also knows how to combine the calm that surrounds us with the 4 natural elements. This is where you will enjoy a wellness treatment for two. After, you will enjoy a dinner at the restaurant.
On the 7th day, you will know one of the oldest, emblematic and well-known Quintas of the Douro region, Quinta da Pacheca, located in Lamego. You will visit the vineyards, the mills, where the olive oil is produced, the wine cellar, where the best wines are produced, and the shop, where you can purchase the wines and some gourmet products. You will enjoy a true combination of traditional Douro flavors, in a wine and sensory experience, which will begin with a traditional cooking workshop, where you will make, with the help of Chef Carlos Pires, a typical Douro meal. You will also enjoy a tasting of 2 Douro wines and 2 Port wines from Quinta da Pacheca.
On the 8th day, another historic Douro Wine Estate, Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, a place of extreme beauty, in the heart of the Douro, municipality of Sabrosa, Vila Real. Owned by the Amorim family since 1999, it was considered one of the 9 most beautiful Wine Estates to visit by American Airlines. You will visit the winery, built in 1764, the Wine Museum Centre, the barrel room and the underground wine cellar, where the best lots selected by the family age. After the visit, you will enjoy a wine lunch in the Conceitus restaurant, composed of a 3 Moments menu, paired with Quinta Nova wines, selected by the Winemaker.
On the 9th day of the program, you will visit and have lunch at Quinta de Ventozelo, which stands out for the exceptional soil conditions and climate of Ventozelo that provide a viticulture of excellence. At the agricultural level, productions such as olive oil, honey, fruit and cork also take their place. It is a true reserve of the Douro biodiversity. It is this diversity that we invite you to taste, in a 6 Ventozelo wines tasting and at lunch at the Cantina de Ventozelo restaurant, where you will savor a tradional menu of Douro and Trás-Os-Montes products. On the terrace overlooking the Estate and the Douro River, the delicacies gain a new flavor.
On the 10th and last day of activities of the program, you will visit Quinta do Vallado, built in 1716, is one of the oldest and most famous wine estates in the Douro Valley. The new cellar and the barrel room, whose construction began in 2008, and with completion at the end of 2009, combines the most advanced technology with a high quality architecture. The winery tour will take you to know all the stages of transformation through which the grapes pass, from the vineyard to the bottle. The visit also includes a passage through the stunning barrel room, where the best wines age. At the end, you will taste a selection of wines from Quinta do Vallado.
The dinner will be in another emblematic Wine Estate, Quinta do Portal, located in Sabrosa, Vila Real is a Portuguese house, family and independent that embraced with all passion the concept of "Boutique Winery", dedicating itself to the production of DOC Douro Wines, Port wines of special categories and Moscatel. You will enjoy a traditional menu, composed of regional Douro dishes and accompanied with Quinta do portal wines. The restaurant offers an author's kitchen, made by Chef Portuguese Milton Ferreira, awarded in the gastronomy competition with Port wine.
The program will end on the 11th day, after breakfast and check-out of the hotel.
